Book Review: Memoirs of an Imaginary Friend

I adore fiction with a unique point of view, and in this instance Memoirs of an Imaginary Friend by Matthew Dicks didn't disappoint.

Told from the perspective of an imaginary friend of a special needs child, the novel chronicles the challenges "different" kids face in a mainstream setting, and what can happen when educators cross the line. With no spoilers prior to my kindle purchase, I didn't foresee the direction the book took, so I was constantly surprised.

Far more somber than I anticipated, the book is a quick, captivating read and a must for parents grappling with their kids and an invisible companion. We all have coping mechanisms, and we all encounter moments that define us and make us mature.

My guess is Memoirs will leave you thinking about your childhood, the frailty of life, and the value of everlasting friendship.
